The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) defines wellness as "maintaining an overall quality of life and the pursuit of optimal emotional, mental, and physical health". People with behavioral health needs are especially vulnerable to physical illness, therefore services that encourage overall wellness are critical for living a fulfilling life.
