Virtual Forum: The Evolution Of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: Focus On Diagnostic, Evaluation, & Treatment Advances

During this Virtual Forum William Sauvé, MD, Regional Medical Director at Greenbrook TMS Neurohealth in Glen Allen, Virginia and Steven Szabo, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine, will discuss how the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has changed with the release of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th Edition (DSM-5), how the gold-standard rating scale, the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) has evolved, and the paradigm shifts that have occurred in the treatment of PTSD. Speakers will also review recent advances in understanding of the neurobiology of PTSD, and will discuss how the perceptions of PTSD have changed over the years in light of traumatic events affecting our society.
