The Pandemic Could Lead To 75,000 Additional Deaths From Substance Misuse & Suicide Over 10 Years
The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic could lead to approximately 75,000 additional deaths over the next decade from both alcohol and drug misuse, and suicide. The number of excess deaths could range from 27,644 to 154,037, depending on the speed of economic recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency, according to projections developed by the Well Being Trust (WBT) and the Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care.
