Spending For Consumers With Comorbid Medical & Behavioral Conditions At 34% Of Total U.S. Health Care Spending

During 2017, people with comorbid medical and behavioral health conditions had estimated claims of $752 billion for medical and behavioral health care, across commercial insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid. The estimated $752 billion in spending for insured people with comorbid conditions represents about 34% of the estimated total $2.2 trillion in total spending for personal health services in 2017.
