Major Depressive Disorder

Over 6% of the U.S. adult population has experienced at least one major depressive disorder (MDD) in the past year. Episodes of depression may cause serious disruption in the economic and social lives of individuals; in fact, according to the World Health Organization, major depression carries the largest disability burden of all mental health and behavioral disorders. In spite of this disruption to activities of daily living, treating unresolved depression can be difficult.
