Pharmacist-Led Medication Adherence Program Raised Adherence Rates & Medicare Advantage Quality Star Ratings

A medication therapy management (MTM) program led by pharmacists raised consumer adherence rates for three drug classes by five to nine percentage points over five years. The program was also linked to higher Medicare Advantage plan quality star ratings. The MTM program focused on raising medication adherence rates for three therapeutic classes: antihypertensives, antihyperlipidemics (statins), and antidiabetics.
