The 2014 Affordable Care Act (ACA) Medicaid expansions were associated with a 9.74% reduction in the rate of opioid-related hospitalizations. States that expanded Medicaid after 2014 experienced smaller increases in hospitalizations than states that did not expand Medicaid.
