Description: Dr. Roger McIntyre, MD, FRCPC, is currently engaged in research on the impact of COVID-19 on mental health conditions in China, where the virus was first described. In this webinar, Dr. McIntyre will share findings of this work with the PsychU community. He will be speaking to the psychological impact of the virus’ effect on those with and without psychiatric illnesses.
Dr. McIntyre will be sharing late-breaking insights into the immediate mental health status of the workforce in China who had to return to work during the COVID-19 epidemic, and touch upon the effect of social media and psychological distress. Lastly, Dr. McIntyre will provide insights from a 4-week longitudinal study on mental health of the general population during this epidemic in China and discuss implications to safeguard mental wellbeing during a pandemic.
