Webinar: The Art Of Clinical Assessment In Patients With Bipolar Disorder

Location: Online Via

Definitions and classifications for mental disorders and symptomology from publications like the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) are helpful in assisting health care providers with diagnoses, treatment, and research related to such mental illness. However, mental health diagnoses often present with variations in symptomology from patient to patient, and can be confounded by other comorbidities like substance use. Health care providers often have to draw upon their professional clinical experience and training to appropriately assess the patients they see in their practices.

In this webinar, hear from Dr. Joseph Goldberg and Dr. John Meyers, as they explore effective ways of interviewing patients with bipolar disorder, and highlighting a variety of strategies to differentiate bipolar disorder from other mental health disorders like personality disorders or substance induced mania. Speakers will clarify rapid cycling symptoms, demonstrate how clinicians can incorporate rating scales during assessment interviews, and discuss assessment for suicidality, adherence, and metabolic adverse effects related to treatment.

Speakers are paid consultants to Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc.
