Webinar: Role of Pharmacogenetics Testing in Psychiatry

Description: Drs. Joseph Goldberg, MD, and Lisa Goldstone, PharmD, MS will discuss benefits and limitations of pharmacogenetics testing on current psychiatric practice based on recent evidence from clinical trials as well as their own clinical experience. Although identification of genetic factors affecting drug safety and efficacy may be beneficial for some patients, pharmacogenetic testing is not currently recommended for routine clinical use. By understanding the scope of information that current pharmacogenetics testing can provide in psychiatry, healthcare providers can identify ways that this testing can be informative for patients.

Lisa Goldstone, PharmD, MS is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at USC School of Pharmacy, Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Goldstone is a board-certified psychiatric pharmacist and pharmacotherapy specialist with over 20 years of clinical experience working with psychiatric disorders in a variety of settings and patient groups. She earned her PharmD from the University of Arizona, where she later became an assistant professor at the UA College of Pharmacy. Currently, Dr. Goldstone is an associate professor of clinical pharmacy at USC School of Pharmacy and serves as the associate director of residency programs. In 2019, she assumed the post of president of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists.
