Description: The objectives of this presentation are to understand that major depressive disorder (MDD) is a serious illness leading to decreased overall patient health and quality of life, investigate the effect of inadequate treatment response in MDD on patients and their families, recognize predictors of and important considerations for inadequate treatment response in MDD, including the new DSM-5 specifier of anxious distress, and consider the importance of proactive treatment decisions.
