Virtual Forum: Integrated Care: Navigating The Evolving Health Care System In 2017

Location: Online Via PsychU.org

Description: The health care landscape continues to be dynamic in 2017. Part of the evolving system involves primary care providers coordinating multiple facets of health, including mental wellness. Although this responsibility is falling on primary care providers, many find it difficult to navigate the complexities of mental health, not only when evaluating various treatment protocols but also who, when, and where to refer for mental health care.

Integrated care has been a proposed mechanism to coordinate mental and physical health among providers, however, it takes a variety of shapes and one size does not fit all practices. In this virtual forum, two primary care providers, Sloan Manning, MD and Marla Moses, FNP, PMHNP, and a psychiatrist colleague, Clayton Chau, MD, PhD, will discuss successful integrated care programs including implementation and validation of treatment protocol effectiveness. Additionally, they will examine the dynamic roles of the various types of mental health care providers.
