Virtual Forum: Beyond Molecular Biomarkers In Psychiatry: Advances In The Digital Age

Location: Online Via

While many medical fields utilize both subjective and objective measures in diagnosing patients and assessing treatment, psychiatry continues to rely mostly on clinical examination and patient recall, in part due to a lack of validated biomarkers. Many of the biomarkers investigated in psychiatry to date have been molecular biomarkers, but with the increasing adoption of digital technology in the mental health space, the potential for digital biomarkers in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of mental illness is growing.

In this Virtual Forum, Rifaat El-Mallakh, MD, and John Luo, MD, will review the need and potential for biomarkers in psychiatry, discuss molecular and digital biomarkers currently under investigation for use in the mental health setting, and consider opportunities and challenges in the use of digital biomarkers in psychiatry.

Speakers are paid consultants to Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc.
