Consumers With Mood/Anxiety Disorders Receive 51% Of Opioid Prescriptions
In the United States, about 51% of the 115 million prescriptions for opioids written each year are for adults diagnosed with mood or anxiety disorders. These adults represent 3% of the U.S. adult population. Of the estimated 38.6 million Americans with mood or anxiety disorders, about 7.2 million (18.7%) use prescription opioids.
